International Airport Brisbane Information

Introduction

Brisbane Airport is located on the eastern coast of Australia, and acts as a gateway for the city of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, and two important holiday areas, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Every year Brisbane Airport handles thousands of domestic and international passenger flights and much cargo. It ranks as one of the country's busiest airports. Well-connected to local road and rail networks and near to the facilities of a major seaport it is an economic driver for its region.

International Airport Brisbane Terminal Information

Domestic Terminal

The domestic terminal serves several airlines, including Qantas and Virgin Blue.

International Terminal

The international terminal serves many airlines, including Garuda Indonesia, Eva Air, Malaysia Airlines, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, China Airlines and Royal Brunei Airlines.

Introduction

Brisbane Airport has two terminals, the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminal. Between them they serve a large number of airlines, which provide flights to many destinations.

Both terminals offer a variety of restaurants, bars, newsstands and shops. Foreign currency exchange services and ATMs are also available.

Although the terminals are situated two kilometres apart there is efficient transport between them. An elevated railway line connects the terminals and provides linkage with the city centre and elsewhere; numerous taxis are also available.

Both terminals offer convenient places for drivers to drop off or pick up passengers, though drivers may stop for no more than two minutes and must remain with their cars. For further details, see the Car Parking page.

Introduction

International Airport Brisbane Car Parking

Car Parking

Brisbane Airport offers facilities for parking, special parking arrangements for the disabled, and convenient arrangements for dropping off and picking up passengers.

Parking Spaces

Both terminals have many parking spaces available.

Picking Up and Dropping Off Passengers

Both the International and Domestic Terminals offer convenient places for car drivers to pick up and drop off passengers near to the buildings.

Generally, these places are marked with 'No Parking' signs. Drivers are permitted to drop off and pick up passengers in these places so long as they stop for no more than two minutes and remain with their vehicles at all times.

In places marked with 'No Stopping' signs drivers are forbidden to stop for the picking up and dropping off of passengers, and will be penalised for doing so.

Unless security conditions worsen it is likely that these arrangements will continue.

Special Arrangements for the Disabled

Spaces are reserved in the International parking area for those cars displaying official disabled permits.

At the International Terminal wheelchair set downs are permitted on Departures Level 4 and Arrivals Level 2 and at the Domestic Terminal they are permitted on the Arrivals level. Wide lifts are available for movement within the terminals.

Tariffs

Brisbane Airport parking facilities charge by three types of tariff: Short Term, Long Term, and International.

International Airport Brisbane Ground Transportation

Bus

Fast comfortable coach services connect the airport with Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Introduction

Brisbane Airport is served by train, taxi and bus.

Taxi

Taxis wait at ranks outside the terminal buildings.

At the International Terminal the taxi rank is outside Arrivals on Level 2.

At the Domestic terminal there are two taxi ranks, one outside the Qantas section and one outside the Virgin Blue section.

Train

Train services both connect the two airport terminals and link the airport with the local region.

Airtrain services operate along a dedicated railway line that is elevated some way above the ground, giving it the appearance of a monorail. Along this line go services between the terminals, which are scheduled to run every 15 minutes on weekday mornings, afternoons and evenings, and to similar frequencies on weekends. Services take three minutes to get from one terminal to another.

Frequent services connect the airport with Brisbane city centre; these operate on both weekdays and weekends, sometimes to a 15 minute schedule, and have a typical journey time of 22 minutes. Services that connect the airport with the Gold Coast are somewhat less frequent; they operate on both weekdays and weekends, and have a typical journey time of about an hour and a half.

At the Domestic Terminal the railway station is located directly outside the terminal building and may be reached by lift, escalator or walkway.

At the International Terminal the railway station is located directly outside the terminal. A covered walkway links the station with the terminal's Mezzanine level, which is one floor down from Departures and one floor up from Arrivals.
