Hong Kong International Airport Airport Hong Kong Information

Introduction

Hong Kong International Airport is located 40 kilometres west of the city of Hong Kong. A busy airport, it serves the city and acts as a hub for much of China and South East Asia.

All passenger flights connect to one super-terminal - said to be the largest enclosed space in the world. A fast, dedicated train service links the airport and the city centre. The airport looks set to become even busier as new facilities come online over the next few years.

Hong Kong International Airport Airport Hong Kong Terminal Information

Introduction

Hong Kong International Airport has a single passenger terminal for both domestic and international traffic. The 1.27 kilometre long terminal is reputed to be the world's largest enclosed space. Despite its size a passenger may move around with a fair amount of speed. An internal shuttle train runs between the East Hall and the West Hall; arriving passengers need not change levels to exit the building; departing passengers need change levels only once to board their plane.

The Passenger Terminal

The terminal handles flights for more than 40 airlines including Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Qantas, Northwest, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, British Airways and many others.

Restaurants and Shops

Level 7 - landside (check-in level) offers a great variety of outlets including the Banana Leaf Asian Food Square, Coffee Club Xpress, the Fook Ming Tong Tea cabin and the Wing Wah Cake Shop, which serves healthy variations of traditional Chinese food. Departing passengers may sample Chinese cooking or international dishes in two restaurants on the airside of Level 7.

Level 6 (boarding level) has a variety of outlets offering Chinese and international cuisines, including the aptly named Stop and Eat in the North Concourse, as well as the Cyberbreak Internet Café.

Level 5 (Arrivals) has no provision for the sale of food and drink.

A host of fashionable shops are spread throughout the Terminal building, and is called the Skymart. Level 6 (boarding level) provides travellers the largest selection of shops.

Available on this level are toys, souvenirs, clothing, spectacles, snacks and many other items.

News and books are available at the Nobletime Bookshops and W H Smith outlets. These are situated on Level 7 - landside, and at least one of the shop-chains is represented in each of the halls and concourses on Level 6.

Banking

ATMs are available throughout the Terminal building. Bank of China ATMs are in the Check-in Hall (Level 7), and the East Hall (Level 6). The Bank of East Asia ATMs are in the West Hall (Level 6) and the Meeters & Greeters Hall (Level 5). Bank of America (Asia) ATMs are in the East Hall (Level 6).
