AIRPORT NEWS
Bmi will introduce twice-weekly flights from Manchester to Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia, with flights to Antigua commencing on 27 November 2004.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS The airport is situated in the north of the island, a 10-minute drive from St John’s. It can be accessed via the Antigua Sugar Factory Road or the Old Parham Road followed by the Airport Road.
CAR PARKING Long- and short-term parking is available in front of the terminal building.
CAR HIRE Car hire companies include Avis, Capital Rentals & Tours, Carters, Dion’s, Dollar, Jacobs, Jonas, Oakland, Richard’s, Slane’ Supreme, Stead’s and Thrifty.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT There is no public transport to/from the airport. Air: Helicopters run services to Monserrat between 0830-1630, with most departures on Sunday and Friday (no service on Wednesday and Saturday); contact Carib Aviation (tel: 268 462 3147) for more information. Subsidiary companies of LIAT (tel: 268 480 5600) run flights within the Leeward Islands, with desks in Arrivals. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available for hire on a fixed-fare basis to St John’s (journey time: 10-15 minutes) and local hotels.
